The Faces Behind the Adventure

Meet local owners, Tyler and Ronie. Both were raised in Hoonah, Alaska. They married in June of 2025, have two beautiful kids together, and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. Hoonah is home — it’s where they choose to raise their kids, run their business, and live their life.

The Original Indian Money

In the 1970s, James Jack Sr. navigated the Icy Strait on a sturdy boat called Indian Money. Though Captain Tyler wasn’t yet born during those early voyages, he grew up captivated by stories of his grandfather’s vessel and his deep ties to the sea. Tyler always admired that family legacy and dreamed of owning a boat that honored those Alaskan roots and traditions.

Today, that legacy of authenticity and local mastery lives on in every tour we lead. While our modern vessels offer comfort and safety for our guests, the spirit of that original boat guides our commitment to small-group experiences and deep respect for the humpback whales that have graced these waters for generations.

Rooted in the Tides

We’re a small, family-run business. Captain Tyler is out on the water running your private six‑passenger tours, while Ronie is behind the scenes, taking care of home life and supporting the business so everything runs smoothly for our guests.

Captain Tyler learned traditional ways on the water from his family at a young age, spending his life on these Southeast Alaska tides and channels. That deep local knowledge is what he now shares with guests on every tour.

Values We Sail By
01
Small-Group Experiences

We limit our tours to just six passengers, ensuring every guest has a front-row seat to the wonders of Southeast Alaska and a personal connection with our crew.

02
Wildlife Respect

Our operations are guided by a deep respect for the humpback whales and marine life that call Southeast Alaska home, maintaining ethical distances and quiet practices.

03
Local Knowledge

Growing up on these waters means we share more than just sights; we pass on the heritage, traditional ways, and hidden stories of our Icy Strait home.
